Obituary of James King

ST.JOHNSVILLE - James "Jim" King 74, , entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Mountain Valley hospice with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 6, 1938 in Benson, Vermont son of the late Irving and Elinor (Howard) King. Jim, Judy, and their 5 children owned and operated Kingvue Holsteins dairy farm in Jordanville, NY for almost 20 years. Jim was an active member of the Holstein Club, Farm Bureau, and Milk Promotion Board. Jim also dedicated his time as a town assessor and planning board member, as well as contributing to other various organizations. After relocating to St. Johnsville, and upon retiring from farming, Jim was proud to be employed by HFM BOCES as a custodian and bus driver. Jim enjoyed woodworking, reading, and his daily postoffice runs for Judy King Insurance. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Julia 'Judy' (Mares) King in 2010. Survivors include his son Michael; and Laurie Capece of Fort Plain; his daughters; Christine Nellis and her husband John of Fort Plain, Doreen DeGroff and her husband Wayne of Oswego, Andrea Winslow and her husband Mark of Pittsford, Vermont, Julie Bushart and her husband Randal of Selkirk, his sister Linda Pellitier and her husband Delbert of Fair Haven, Vermont; his 10 grandchildren: Corey King, Katie Nellis, Brittany Nellis, James Winslow, Erin Nellis, Michael Winslow, John Winslow, Kendra Bushart, Charlotte Winslow, Matthew Bushart; his great grandson Riley King and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home , 9 Center Street St. Johnsville on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A religious service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 11:00 am at The Jordanville Federated Church, Main Street Jordanville. Procession will follow to Cemetery of the Columbia Reformed Church, Richfield Springs where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife Julia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim's name to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
