Obituary of Antonio F. Verri

Anthony F. Verri, 89, of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 26, 2012 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 4, 1923, in Little Falls, the son of the late Vingenio James and Maria Volpe Verri and attended Little Falls schools. At the age 16, Anthony joined the CCC, a government work group that allowed younger family members to earn for their family. He started working with this group in Gilbert Lake and then on to Wyoming. Anthony served in the Unites States Army Air Corp during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. On August 1, 1964, he married the former E. Barbara Klock in Little Falls. Prior to his retirement, Anthony worked construction for many years with the Utica Laborers Union. He was an avid bowler and took great pleasure in spending time fishing especially for walleye at Oneida Lake. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his sisters, Agatha Pietrapauli and Joan Lasher, both of Little Falls; his sister-in-law, Helen Wren, several special and cherished nieces and nephews from the Verri, Wren and Klock families and his special friend, Mark Roy. Anthony was predeceased by his brothers, Gino Verri and Fierello Verri who passed away serving our Country in WWII; his sister, Jean Lonis and his step-mother, Lucy Verri. In keeping Anthony's wishes there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Little Falls at the convenience of the family.
