Obituary of Joanne A. Oyer

FRANKFORT - Joanne A. Oyer, age 76, of 271 W. Main St., Frankfort, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, with her family by her side. She was born on May 4, 1936, in Frankfort, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Fragale) Nicolette, and graduated from Frankfort High School. On May 14, 1954, she was married to Don Oyer in Frankfort. Joanne worked in the public sector for many years retiring in 1998. Mrs. Oyer was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Survivors include her husband, Don; her sons, Don Oyer, of Frankfort, and Ken Oyer (Steve Anthonavage), of Riverton, NJ; her sister, Doris Amento, of Frankfort; her sister-in-law, Sandra Nicolette, of Ft. Myers, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Joseph R. Nicolette. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Joanne's Mass of Christian Burial, on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 414 Frankfort St., Frankfort, with Rev. Leo Potvin officiating, assisted by Deacon James Bower. In keeping with Joanne's wishes, there are no public calling hours. Following the Mass, respects may be paid to the family at the St. Francis Society at 152 8th Avenue, Frankfort. The family wishes to thank Joanne's family and many friends for their love and support during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Frankfort Ambulance Fund, or Bassett Healthcare Network.
