Jim was truly a good person. He was six weeks older than me and we lived four blocks apart. We had many happy years growing up. He was the center and leader of our quite good St. Mary's basketball team throughout high school. Probably our biggest win was over our friends and across the street rival LFHS in 1960. But then, through no fault of his own, he suffered through much heartache and then illness and for many years he held his head high and endured it. Nuns and priests have told us that God does not cause such sorrow and pain but for reasons which we are not able to know He allows it. That's finally behind him and now he looks over us and will help us from time to time. As Kathy said, may he now rest in peace with God.
