Obituary of Johanna C. O'Donnell

MOHAWK/CROFTON, MD: Johanna C. (Uncur) O'Donnell, age 48, a former Mohawk resident, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Baltimore-Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD with the love and support of her family. Johanna was born on March 17, 1964 in Herkimer, the daughter of Greta (Johansen) Uncur and the late Chester Uncur. She graduated from Mohawk High School and the Utica School of Commerce. She then worked for several years in the healthcare field as an administrative assistant at Strong Memorial Hospital and Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York. Johanna was united in marriage on June 11, 1999 in Mendon, NY to LTC Jeffrey P. O'Donnell (US Army), sharing 13 years of happiness, contentment and unconditional love. Together, they lived in many exciting places such as Savannah, GA; Augusta, GA; and Mannheim, Germany because of Jeff's career with the US Army. Johanna loved the countryside - going to Vermont and seeing the Fall foliage was a favorite pastime. She loved to plan trips and travel, visiting many European countries, including her family's beloved Denmark, and spending time taking in the fields, pastures and mountains. While visiting those European countries, shopping and adding to her collection of Polish Pottery was a special enjoyment for her. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of cooking, especially Holiday baking, but most important was taking care of her family, her husband and children, whom she cherished dearly. Johanna was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Crofton, Maryland. She is survived by her beloved husband, LTC Jeffrey P. O'Donnell of Crofton, MD; her mother, Greta Uncur of Little Falls; her cherished children, Nora O'Donnell and Nicholas O'Donnell of Crofton, MD; her siblings, Catherine McCabe and her husband Michael of Rochester, David Uncur and his wife Mary-Gayle of Virginia and Sharon Dunphy and her companion Richard Ruggiero of Dolgeville; her father and mother-in law, James and Patricia O'Donnell, her brothers-in law, Philip O'Donnell, Rory O'Donnell and wife Bethany and Terence O'Donnell; a niece, Eloise O'Donnell and nephews, Bryan and Sean Uncur. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315) 823-2424 on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 8-9:15 a.m. Johanna's funeral will commence on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 9:15 am from the funeral home where prayers will be offered and at 10:00 from Blessed Sacrament Church, 54 E. Main St., Mohawk where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Procession will follow to Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville where she will be laid to rest. Please consider memorial offerings to the LUNGevity Foundation, 435 North LaSalle Street, Suite 310, Chicago, IL 60654 or at lungevity.org; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
