Obituary of Gary Rogers

Ilion: Gary Rogers, 56, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 18, 2012, with his loving family by his side at his home. He was born on September 15, 1955, in Ilion, the son of the late Richard and Lillian Newberry Rogers, Sr., and attended Ilion schools. On March 14, 1981, Gary married the former Sharon Brewer. He has been a lifelong resident of Ilion. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Feldmeier, Inc., Little Falls, for several years. Gary enjoyed hunting, camping, playing chess, learning about history, and most of all, enjoying his time spent with his family . He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Tammy Pizani of Picayune, MS; his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Tricia Rogers of Ilion; his special caregiver and granddaughter, Samantha Groom, and his grandchildren, Rachel Domion, Sierra and James Springer, Andrew Liebing, Alechia Pizani, Christopher Pizani, Kaitlynn Rogers, Traci Rogers, and Dawn Rogers; his great granddaughter, Dakota Springer; his sister Janet Dodge; his brother, Richard Rogers, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his sister, Linda Perri, his brother, Randy Rogers, and his brother-in-law, Michael Dodge. Gary's funeral service will be 11 am, Friday, June 22, 2012, from the chapel of Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Interment will be made in Frankfort Center Cemetery, Town of Litchfield. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be offered to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Bassett Healthcare Network, Bassett Herkimer Cancer Center, and Hospice and Palliative Care of CNY for all of their loving and compassionate care they gave Gary.
