Obituary of William Douglas Unser

LITTLE FALLS: William Douglas "Doug" Unser, age 78, a lifelong Little Falls resident passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his residence. Born in Little Falls on July 28, 1933, Doug was the son of the late W. Wendell and Marguerite E. (Woodruff) Unser. He was educated in Little Falls Schools and worked for over 40 years at Burrows Paper Mill until his retirement in 1996. He lived on Moreland Street for 78 years. Doug was an avid walker, sports fan and bird watcher. He made several trips to South Bend, IN to watch his favorite football team, Notre Dame and was a supporter of local youth sport teams, as well as a contributor to all local activities and loved to photograph the sporting events He was a huge follower of Nascar and a regular patron of Fonda Speedway. A kind, generous friend to all, Doug will be missed. Doug was a member of the Holy Family Parish where he served for many years as an usher. He is survived by a sister, Karen A. Klimacek; a sister-in-law, Ann Unser and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Wendell Unser. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 5-8 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY. Doug's funeral services will begin with prayer at the funeral home at 11:15 am on Monday, July 16, 2012, followed by his Funeral Mass at 12 pm, celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless in Holy Family Parish Church. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of floral offerings, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
