Obituary of Annabelle Nicolette

Annabelle (Ann) Nicolette, 88, formerly of 53 S. Third Ave, Ilion and currently residing at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, passed away peacefully, Monday July 16, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born March 23, 1924, in Utica, a daughter of the late James and Nellie Waite Dougher. Ann was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On February 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Salvatore (Sam) Nicolette in St. Patrick's Church, Utica by Father Frederick Lagoe. Mr. Nicolette passed away February 12, 2002, a few weeks short of a blessed marriage of 56 years. For many years, Ann was employed with Divine Bros., Utica, as a secretary and various other businesses throughout the city of Utica. She was a communicant of the Church of Annunciation for many years where she had previously served as an Eucharistic Minister, lector, greeter and religious education teacher. Ann was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Crowley Barnum Post #25, Mohawk since 1966 where she served as past county and unit president. She also had been a past Chapeau of the 40 & 8 Club. She was an avid bowler and participated in local leagues for a period of forty years plus. Ann also was an enthusiastic Yankee fan. She is survived by her sons, Gerald and his wife JoAnn of Manlius, James of Leesville, LA, Douglas and his wife Lori of Ilion and Martin and his wife Mary Nicolette of Canastota; her daughters, Jeanne Scram and her husband Walter of Berne and Carol Dufresne and her fiancée, Mike Perez of Ilion; her very dear sister, Rita Jurkowski of Saquoit; her cherished grandchildren, Colin Nicolette, Cory and Deanna Nicolette, Jennifer Frias and her husband, Jun, Walter Scram III and his wife Stefanie, Andrew and Kori Scram, Derek and Lisa Nicolette, Christopher Nicolette, Brandon Nicolette and Gene Dufresne and his fiancé Kelly Day and Alysia Dufresne; her great grandchildren, Blake Scram, Grant Scram, Claire Marie Scram, Gabriel Scram, Zachary Ryan, Keegan Nicolette, Kendel Nicolette, Brandon Nicolette, Patrick Nicolette, Sean Nicolette and Caitlin Nicolette; several nieces and nephews and several in-laws. Ann was predeceased by his brothers, Lee Dougher and James Dougher; her sister, Theresa Bahsa and several in-laws. Ann's funeral services will commence at 9:15 a.m., Friday July 20, 2012 from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion and 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Leo Potvin. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the funeral home. Members of the Crowley Barnum American Legion Auxiliary Post #25 are kindly asked to gather for a service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
