HERKIMER - Mrs. Nellie (Kroll) Lesko, age 94, a lifetime resident of Herkimer, passed away early Sunday morning, July 29, 2012 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. Nellie has been a resident of Valley Health since 2006. Her family wishes to thank the 2nd floor East staff for their professional and compassionate care. She was born on June 1, 1918 in Poland, Europe, daughter of the late Jacob Kroll and Mary Krowicki Kroll - Sakowski. She attended schools in Herkimer, NY and graduated from high school on June 25, 1935. Her marriage to Joseph Lesko took place on June 15, 1940. Upon the passing of Mr. Lesko in 1967, Nellie became president of Jonell Manufacturing Corp. of Herkimer. She attended New Life Ministries, Herkimer, and was a founding member of the church. Mrs. Lesko is survived by: two sons: Joseph Lesko, Herkimer; Aaron Lesko and wife Linda, Allentown, PA; grandchildren: Kevin Lesko, Christine Lesko Tyson, Chad Lesko; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Emily Sakowski Hanselman, Fairport, NY; Dolores Sakowski Culver and husband William, Schuyler, NY; Helen Moore of Medford, OR, brothers: Edward Sakowski and wife Geraldine, Horseheads, NY; Gerald Sakowski and wife Kathy, Greenville, NC; brother in law Paul DeShaies, Herkimer and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her beloved son Garrett Lesko, sisters Adeline Kroll Martynec, and Veronica Kroll DeShaies, brother Stanley Sakowski and niece, Linda Pawluk Harper. Her funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday August 4, 2012 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, with the Reverend Gerald Scott officiating. Family viewing will be at 12:30 pm and public calling hour at 1:00 pm. Procession to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer for interment. The family is being served by Kevin E.
