Obituary of Margaret A. Everson

Herkimer: Margaret "Peg" A. Everson, 59, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown, with her loving family at her side, following a brief illness. She was born on August 19, 1952, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Lonis Austin, Sr. On April 13, 1974, Peg married Leon E. Everson, Sr. The couple have been lifelong residents of the Mohawk Valley, where they settled to raise their family. Peg was a homemaker all her life, where throughout the years, besides raising her own children, adopted many foster children and raised them as her own. Her greatest passion and enjoyment was being with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The love and care that Peg was always willing to give will be immensely missed by all of her family, but never forgotten. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty eight years, Leon; her children, Joseph Everson, Jeffrey and Bonnie Everson, Jaime and Marie Everson and Jenny Everson, all of Ilion, Julie Everson of Ft. Edward, Timothy Austin of Herkimer, Leon E. Everson, Jr. and his fiancée, Michele Louis of Ilion, Tammy Everson McGowan of Herkimer, Devon Everson, Alexis Everson, Ian Everson, Chase Everson, Christian Everson and Chance Everson, all of whom reside at home; her siblings, Robert and Patricia Austin, Jr., Grace McDonough, Neil Austin, Delores Austin and her companion, Larry Davis, Jean Suiter, John and Vicky Austin and Evelyn and Brian Muzzy; many many cherish and beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; many many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Peg was predeceased by her brother, Elmer "Skip" Austin and many in-laws. Peg's memorial service will commence at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 in the chapel of the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, with Pastor Gene Kipper, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 2-4 p.m. Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Contributions, in Peg's memory, may be offered to the American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley, 235 N. Prospect Street, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
