Obituary of Ernest H. Primmar

Mr. Ernest H. Primmar, 88, formerly of 391 Otsego Street, Ilion and currently of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, passed away peacefully, August 5, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He was born on March 1, 1924, in Little Falls, the son of the late Ernest J. and Julia Harwick Primmar and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. Immediately following school, he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country in the Patton Armored Anti-Aircraft Division in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II In May of 1954, Ernie married the former Elizabeth Poliak in Ilion. Mr. and Mrs. Primmar have been long time residents of Ilion. Prior to his retirement, He was proudly employed for forty years with Remington Arms, Inc., Ilion as an electrical engineer where in all his years of service he only missed one day of work. Ernie enjoyed spending his time fishing and woodworking. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Primmar enjoyed relaxing at their camp on the St. Lawrence. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty eight years, Elizabeth; his siblings and their spouses, Rosamond Doxtater of Herkimer, Charles and Jaquelyn Primmar of Ilion, Richard Primmar of Barneveld and Gloria and James Watts of Ilion and several special nieces and nephews. Ernie was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Helen Primmar; his sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Joseph Sekel; his brother-in-law, Donald Weller and his sisters-in-law, Christine Primmar, Ann Stanek and Susan Tatricola. Ernie's funeral will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from the chapel of the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, with Rev. Dr. Andrew Peloubet, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ilion, officiating. His interment will follow in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion where he will receive full military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, August, 7, 2012 at the funeral home. Contributions, in Ernie's memory, may be offered to the First Baptist Church of Ilion.
