Rebecca Marie Engelbrecht, 99, of Avery Road, Ilion, passed away peacefully, Sunday August 19, 2012 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She was born on April 9, 1913, in Mullens, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Lee and Mary Elizabeth Wood Harris and was educated in West Virginia schools. In 1931, Rebecca was united in marriage to Louis Nelson Engelbrecht. Mr. Engelbrecht passed away. Rebecca was employed with Univac Ilion and Utica, retiring with twenty five years of service. She was of the Baptist faith and a former member of AARP. Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who took great pride in raising and being there for her family. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws; Irving and Donna Engelbrecht of Auburn, William and Mary Engelbrecht of Ilion and Richard and Sandy Engelbrecht of Ilion; her grandchildren, Christopher Engelbrecht, Heather Sliwinski and Janet Hitchcock and her great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rebecca was predeceased by her son, Louis Engelbrecht, Jr. her brothers, John, Leonard and William Harris and her sisters, Della Dunivant, Georgia McKinney and Zora Street Rebecca's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion with Rev Dr. Andrew Peloubet, Pastor of the Ilion Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarville Cemetery, Cedarville where she will laid to rest next to her husband. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects 6-8 p.m, Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Enea Family Funeral Home. Contributions, in Rebecca's memory may be offered to Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
