HERKIMER-LATHAM: Linda M. Carter of Latham, NY, and a longtime resident of Herkimer, died peacefully Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was born May 23, 1940 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Orason and Marguerite (DesRosiers) Streeter. She was educated at St. Francis de Sales School, Herkimer High School, Buffalo State Teachers College and Utica College. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church (Herkimer) and Our Lady of Assumption Church (Latham, NY). Linda taught at St. Francis de Sales School for 38 years. Over the course of her career, she was a classroom teacher, a music teacher and retired in 2006 as the school's library media specialist. Linda's life was proudly defined by her service to the St. Francis de Sales parish community and, following her move to Latham in 2007, her service to Our Lady of Assumption. Linda had a lifelong love of music and reading and was instrumental in forming the Hearthstone Village choral group at her home in Latham, and the Latham Book Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph (Butch) Carter (1994). Linda and Butch were married on June 25, 1960 at St. Francis de Sales Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Carter and wife Debra (Hespelt) of Parkville, MO, and their children Thomas, Emily and John; three daughters and their families, Lucia Trudeau of Latham, NY, and her son, Daniel and his wife, Jenna; Michele Arnold and husband Kenneth of Napa, CA, and their daughter, Amelia; Andrea Wilson and husband Paul of Latham, NY, and their sons Andrew, Christopher and David. She is also survived by her brother Carl Streeter and his wife Frances of Ilion, NY and sisters-in-law Mary Streeter of Dryden, NY, and Margaret (Peg) Streeter of Herkimer, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers Francis Streeter and Philip Streeter. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N.
