Rita M. Turner,88, of Jeffrey St., Herkimer, passed away peacefully, August 25, 2012, in Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown. She was born on June 3, 1924 in Wappingers Falls, the daughter of the late William and Martha Padgham Keddell. Rita was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On June 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Keith F. Turner in St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, a blessed union of sixty years, until Mr. Turner's passing on December 5, 2007. For many years, Rita was employed with the Village of Herkimer. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. Rita enjoyed knitting in her free time and her greatest joy of life was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Rita is survived by her grandchildren; Eric and Sharon Judson of Amherst, Christian Judson, Erin Judson and her companion, Jennifer Fox of San Francisco, Kelly Ladd and her companion, Eric Conigliaro of Frankfort, and Megan Ladd of Herkimer; her brothers, Robert Keddell and his wife, Ruth, of Naples, FL and Joseph Keddell and his wife, Betty of Oneonta; her sister, J. Catherine Hadcock of Herkimer; her great grandchildren, Graeme Wood, Ryan Judson, Jack Judson, Delaney Judson, Nate Fox, Madison Conigliaro, Arya Mullin, Ciera Mullin and Kian Mullin and several nieces and nephews including a special nieces, Jean Maneen of Ilion. She was predeceased by her son, Robert "Turbo" Turner; her daughters, Kay Turner-Ladd and Sue Ellyn Turner-Barker and her siblings, Francis Keddell, Lola Endres, Mo Keddell, James Keddell, and William Keddell. Rita's funeral will commence at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, and 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in the Turner family plot. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Enea Family Funeral Home. Contributions in Rita's memory may be offered to the Kay Turner-Ladd Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
