Obituary of Patricia A. Brownell

Herkimer: Mrs. Patricia A. Brownell, 72, of Claxton Manor, Herkimer, passed away after a brief illness on September 17, 2012, surrounded by the love and support of her family, in Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown. Patricia was born on April 21, 1940 in Richfield Springs, a daughter of the late Leon Griffin and Mae (Miller) Griffin-Osborn. She received her education in Richfield Springs Schools. She was married to John S. Brownell, Jr., who passed away on June 9, 1998. They resided in Avon, Ohio and then Ilion. Pat's last employment was with the Ramada Inn of Avon, Ohio. Mrs. Brownell is survived by her step-father, Donald Osborn "Pop"of Richfield Springs, who was in every sense of the word, her dad; her loving children: Thomas Brownell and his wife Pauline of Little Falls, Brian Brownell and his special friend Arlene Rodriguez of Palm Bay, FL, Debra Isom and her husband Mike, also of Palm Bay, FL, Dawn Beers and her husband Warren of Little Falls, and Edie Marino and John Korce of Mohawk. She also leaves her siblings: Gloria Smaldone and her husband Anthony of Frankfort, Victoria Dineen and her husband Tom of Schuyler, Dorothy Rowlands, Mary Moore, and Vivian McGraw, all of Ilion, Jim Griffin and his wife Donna Griffin-Carr of Gilbertsville, NY, Richard Griffin and his wife Esther of CA, Fred Griffin of Ilion, Debbie Clark and her husband Jack of Richfield Springs; a very special sister-in-law, Gail Griffin of Richfield Springs; dear friends, Dawn DeCarr and Millie Powell of Herkimer; 12 grandchildren, Brant Isom, who is in the US Navy and currently serving in Pearl Harbor, Ryan Isom, who just completed his service in the US Army and National Reserve, Joseph Fraser, David and Scott Beers, Samuel Marino, Stefanie and Samuel Roorda, Kristi and Kevin Malone, Mark and Tina Brownell, Justin Brownell, Becky and Jay Filippi, and Patrick Lawrence; 10 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Mae, her husband, John, and brothers, Leon, Jr. and Edward. Pat was a very loving and outgoing person; her kindness was exemplified by her special love of animals. We will always remember her great smile, which she never lost even during her illness, and her love of life. She cherished her friendships, old and new, and enjoyed her activities at Claxton Manor. In respect of Patricia's wishes, cremation has taken place. Pastor Cathy Lee will conduct a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 28, 2012 in Wakeman Chapel of Folts Home. Burial will immediately follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Pat's family would to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Claxton Manor and Bassett Healthcare, especially Dr. Huffman, and the Third Floor Staff, for the quality care and the comfort they provided.
