Obituary of Mary E. Young

HERKIMER - Mary E. (Looman) Young, 60, of 524 Lake Street, was escorted by her Angels and welcomed home to the open arms of the Lord and her passed loved ones, on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Her journey ending on Earth, succumbing to complications of cancer. Mary had the comfort of being in her home with her husband and her children by her side. Mary was born on May 15, 1952, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Ralph I. and Nellie M. (Johnson) Looman. On Saturday, July 5, 1969, she was united in marriage to Neil D. Young at Saint Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, a 43 year adventure filled with love, devotion, understanding, forgiveness, happiness, some sadness, good times and bad, fun, children and grandchildren. Mary dedicated her entire life to her husband, children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She raised and cared for 4 children, instilling kindness, good manners, love, compassion, understanding, a love and respect for animals, and generosity. During Mary's journey, she never once complained about her life or any of the heart breaking events in it. She had a wonderful sense of humor and maintained that spunkiness right to the end. She had a positive outlook on life and said everything happens for a reason and only the Lord knows why. She had prepared her children for what was to come. Always saying, "Life is a journey we each must take, why or for how long is unknown. Love and be kind to one another. I am not afraid to die, I know where I am going." This has brought her husband, children and grandchildren much comfort. Mary had a strong belief in God. She enjoyed watching football, the Pittsburgh Steelers being her favorite team. She had a great love of animals and adopted several over the years. She loved flowers, her favorite color was purple and her favorite singer was Elvis Presley. She enjoyed the holidays with her family, especially Christmas. Mary and Neil's home was always filled with friends and family enjoying a good cup of coffee and conversation, always asking, "more coffee? Are you hungry, eat". Mary is survived by her loving family: her husband, Neil; her children, Brenda and Brian Hysack, of East Herkimer, Laurie Young and Wendall, of Herkimer, Paul Young and Brooke, of Mohawk, and Jeffrey and Kerry Young, of Arizona; her grandchildren, Brian, Sarah, Craig, Christopher, Kateyln, Jessica, Angela, Kaedy and Jude Kyle; one brother, Ralph P.
