Obituary of Helen Gaworecki

LITTLE FALLS: Helen I. (Min) Gaworecki, age 88, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home with her loving family at her side. She was born on February 17, 1924 in Little Falls, the third of nine children born to the late Grover and Bertha Unser Murphy (McTiernan). She attended St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls graduating in 1941. In June 1941, she married Stanley J. Gaworecki, a marriage of 48 years until his death on October 18, 1989. Both Helen and Stanley worked at Salada Foods (Hansen's) for many years. Helen loved gardening, walking and swimming. She took great pride in her beautiful yard and flower garden, and was an excellent cook and homemaker. In 2004, she moved to New Hartford to be close to her family. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church on Furnace Street, Little Falls and was a long time member of Holy Family Parish of Little Falls. Helen is survived by her children: daughters, Nancy L. Schisa (Tom Harrigan) of Syracuse, Barbara (Dan) Mosny of New Hartford, Helen (Norman) Cardinale of Utica and son, Stanley Gaworecki (Barbara) of Houston, TX; ten beloved grandchildren, John Schisa (Maria), Daniel Mosny (Kate), Michael Mosny, Mark Mosny (Heather), Craig Cardinale, Andrew Gaworecki (Leslie), Michael Gaworecki (Genevieve Brennan), Laura Gaworecki, Joseph Gaworecki (Christen) and Alison Gaworecki; her great-grandchildren, Michelle, Paul, and Kelly Schisa, Meara and Peter Mosny, Greyson, Asher and Quinn Gaworecki and step great-grandchildren Alexis and Justin Swieton; her sisters Adele Zysk and Diane Skibinski of Little Falls, Deborah Zawtocki (Chester) of Mesa, AZ and Suzette Lamey of Florida and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Yvonne Irving and Virginia Rifenburgh; her brothers, Wendell Murphy and Grover "Brud" Murphy; a great-granddaughter, Bella Mosny and a special cousin, Stella Milcrenski, who was like a sister to Helen. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the Presbyterian Home (Maple Unit) for their wonderful care of Helen and the many acts of kindness shown to her and her family during her stay there. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's memory to Holy Family Parish, Little Falls or the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Helen's funeral service will commence at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home and at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, corner of John /E. Main Sts. Little Falls, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Dennis Murphy. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Stanley. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
