Obituary of Joseph Michaud

MOHAWK: Joseph G. "K2UBE" Michaud, age 86, a long time Mohawk resident, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with the love and support of his family. Joe was born on March 1, 1926 in Nashua, NH, the son of the late Lucien Xavier and O'Diana (Roy) Michaud. He was educated in Nashua, NH Schools and studied at the Naval Radio Receiver School in Boston, MA. He enlisted into the United States Navy on February 22, 1944 and served in World War II as a Seaman and was honorably discharged on June 6, 1946. On June 19, 1948 he married the former Mary Martellotti; the couple shared an adoring relationship during their 64-year marriage and Joe considered his wife to be his "Darling". Joe was employed for 34 years at General Electric Aerospace and worked as a supervisor. Joe was a playful and fun loving person and helping others was most important to him. He kept his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren close to his heart and "Pa Joe" will be dearly missed. Joe was an avid fan and participant of Amateur Radio and was the world's best repair man. He could fix anything and was referred to as "Mr. Fix-It". Joe was formerly a member of the Herkimer County Amateur Radio Club, the Ilion Moose and the Ilion Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish of Mohawk. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary of Mohawk; his daughters, Diane Rose and husband Ron of Mohawk and Cynthia A. Michaud of Herkimer; his sons, Joseph L. Michaud and wife Lougene and Pierre Michaud and wife Stacey of Mohawk, Robert Michaud and wife Judy of Ilion and Gerard Michaud and wife Gail of Bellwood, PA; a very close friend, who was considered a son to Joe, Father James "Pete" Wright and wife Penny of Redlands, CA; his cherished grandchildren, Heather Judd and husband Luke, Holly Yardley and husband Mike, Maree Sacks and husband Aaron, Joseph L. Michaud, Daniel Michaud and wife Alexa, Adrienne Watson and husband Robert, Stephanie Boepple and husband Eric, Thomas Michaud, Cheryl Davis and husband Kevin and Danielle Michaud; his great grandchildren, Christopher, Logan and Cullen Judd, Michael, Matthew and Blake Yardley, Nathan Sacks, Jack Watson and Veda Boepple; his brothers, Gerard Michaud of Brookline, NH and Roland Michaud and wife Hilda of Saco, ME; a sister, Magella Jackson and husband John of Leominster, MA; his brother-in-law, Chester Scerra of Richfield Springs and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Brousseau. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY (Town of Frankfort) 315-894-8000 on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. Joe's funeral will commence on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at10:15 a.m. from the funeral home where prayers will be offered and at 11:00 a.m. from Blessed Sacrament Church, 54 E. Main St., Mohawk where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Procession will follow to Mohawk Cemetery, John St., Mohawk, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation in Joe's memory to the Epilepsy Foundation; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family has entrusted all funeral arrangements to Harry J. Enea, Jr., Funeral Director.
