HERKIMER: Cathryn G. Groulx, age 81, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at her home, with the love and support of her family. Cathryn was born in Ogdensburg, NY on July 24, 1931, the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Monroe) Gilbert. She was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. On February 15, 1958, she was united in marriage to Charles Groulx, Sr. at St. Agnes Church, Utica; the couple shared 45 years of love and mutual respect before Mr. Groulx's passing on October 22, 2003. At one time, she worked for General Electric in Utica. Cathryn was devoted to taking care of her family. She was a talented baker, cook and homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering and reading. Cathryn was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, the Knights of Columbus Pinochle Club for over 30 years and St. Francis de Sales Parish, Herkimer. She is survived by her beloved family, her daughter, Cynthia Groulx of Herkimer; her sons, Charles Groulx, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Carl Lucian Groulx and wife Gail of Canada and Christopher Groulx of Herkimer; her cherished grandchildren, Carl and wife Tasha, Brandon, Jeremy, Cheyanne and Shane Groulx; her great-grandchildren, Conner, Lucas and Cathryn Groulx; her sisters, Gail Coons and husband Arthur , Helen Fountain and Mary Ester Whaley all of New Hartford; several in-laws in the Ogdensburg and Rochester areas and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Baker. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315)894-8000 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012. Cathryn's funeral will commence on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, where her Funeral Mass will be offered by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Pastor. Procession will then follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Charles. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Jr., Funeral Director.
