Obituary of Ethel L. Clark

Herkimer: Mrs. Ethel L. Clark, 94, of Prescott Street, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Clark was born on February 17, 1918 in Fairfield, a daughter of the late Howard and Myrtle (Denslow) Francisco. She received her education in Herkimer schools. On November 10, 1939, she and Bruce E. Clark were married in Middleville. The coupled enjoyed a marriage of 69 years, until her beloved Bruce passed away on November 8, 2009. Ethel was an over 60 year member of the Eastern Star, and in the 1950's, was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker, and was happiest when she was caring for her family. She is survived by her sons, David Clark and his wife Joyce of Keithville, Louisiana, and Russell Clark and his wife Mary Ellen of Herkimer; a daughter, Lois Van Allen and her husband Jere of Herkimer; sisters, Shirley Simons of Middleville, and Carol Blust and her husband Bill of Stittville. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Karen Talbot and her husband Stuart, Christopher Van Allen and his wife Amanda, Rebecca Clark, Michael Clark, Jimmie Lee Morgan and his wife Jennifer, great-grandchildren, Miranda and Madeline Talbot, Amelia Van Allen, and David Morgan; along with her in-laws, Loretta Clark of Whitesboro and Mary Clark of Ilion. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Bruce, sisters, Marjorie Brooks and Mary Hunt, and brothers, Ken, Frank, Howard "Pat" and Gerald "Curly." Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer (866-1011). Ethel's funeral will be conducted at the funeral home by Reverend Brian Engle on Wednesday morning, December 5 at 11 am. Burial will take place in the spring at Middleville Cemetery. Those wishing may make a donation in Ethel's memory to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, New York 13502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
