Obituary of Terry Williams

Mr. Terry W. Williams 63 of 55 North Helmer Avenue Dolgeville, went to Heaven Saturday evening December 8, 2012 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by and with the love and support of his wife and family at his side. He was born in Little Falls, on August 10th, 1949 the son of the late Ralph M. "Willie" and Shirley (Lyon) Williams and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1967. He furthered his education by attending MVCC and also Manpower classes for electronic & TV repair. While in high school Terry became a sports enthusiast and is known amongst his friends and his community for his dedication to the Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys. He shared many laughs and jokes with rival fans around town. During his high school years he was very active in the Boy Scouts having earned his Order of arrow award along with becoming an Eagle Scout in 1966. He participated in many High Adventure trips including a 14 day trip across the country to the Philmont Scout ranch. His other awards in scouting included the God and Country Award from the United Methodist Church. Terry was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Joanne Prestigiacomo on July 5, 1969 in St. Josephs Church Dolgeville. They recently celebrated 43 years of marriage. H e was employed as a Supervisor for ABS trucking company of Yorkville until his health forced him to retire. He was previous employed by the former Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville and the Adirondack Bat Company both as a purchasing manager. He was also the owner/operator of the former Dolgeville Bowling Center for a number of years. His community interest was second to none having assisted with the Dolgeville football team as an assistant scout, cameraman and "general right hand man from 1991-2002. He was a member of the Dolgeville Fire Department and the Dolgeville Benevolent Fireman's Association, he was a 32 degree Master Mason, and member of the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge #796, the Auskerada-Manquaes Rock City Chapter #204 Order of Eastern Star, currently serving as their Patron, The Yahnundahsis Body of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Utica, having received the Distinguished Brother Award this past October 19th, receiving the "Blue Hat" from them. Terry was also a charter member and instrumental in starting the Ziyara Shine Hillbillies Clan#177, whose work is to raise awareness and support to the mission of the Shriners, participating in parades, charitable functions and specifically the Shrine Transport group that offers transportation to families visiting medical facilities. When time allowed he enjoyed bowling, golf, theater and singing. Over the years, many friends would stop in to watch this game or that; from football and baseball to tennis, golf or bowling. Terry was always watching-usually with a bowl of popcorn at the ready. Terry was a member of the United Methodist Church, where he was currently serving as a Trustee. Terry will be remembered by all who knew him as a fun-loving, kind and charitable man, dedicated to his family, faith and community. He will be dearly missed, especially by his beloved grandchildren who enjoyed playing iPad games and chase, watching movies, building trains and visiting Disney World with Grandpa. He is survived by his wife Joanne, his daughter and their husbands, Heather and Derrek Tuthill of Saratoga Springs, Corinne and Joe Picataggi of Williamsburg, VA, a Son and his companion Trevor Williams and Donna Doerrer of Dolgeville, his brother and his wife Greg and Marilyn Williams of Dolgeville, his adored grandchildren Chiara, Joseph, William, Andrew, Isabella , Theo, Bethany, Olivia and Johann. Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 15th, 2012 at 10Am at the United Methodist Church on Helmer Avenue Dolgeville. The service will begin with the Order of Easter Star presenting their Ritualistic Service followed by the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge Ritualistic service and then the prayers and readings offered by Rev. Diane E. DiLuzio, pastor. Burial will follow in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday December 14th, 2012 from 3-7PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
