Obituary of Benaventure Tisi

LITTLE FALLS: Benaventure "Bennie" Tisi, 95, a lifelong Little Falls area resident passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Folts Home with the love and support of his family. He was born on October 10, 1917 in the Town of Danube, the son of the late Leonard and Josephine (Barone) Tisi. Bennie was educated in Little Falls Schools and married the former Rose Naple on August 31, 1940 in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls, sharing 47 years before her passing on September 28, 1987. He later married Ferne Weaver Allen on July 14, 1990. Bennie was proud of his country and on March 24, 1943 he entered into the United States Army Air Corp, serving as a Corporal in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. He was honorably discharged on November 18, 1945. Bennie worked from 1935 to 1937 as a field worker for Civilian Conservation Corps (CC's) and then worked for General Electric, Utica as a foreman in the electroplating department. He was a member of the American Electroplaters Society, AARP and taught the 55 Alive driving class. He enjoyed making fishing lures, hot plates, loved to cook Italian cuisine, feeding the birds, flowers and the warmth of the sun. He kept his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren close to his heart and nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Ferne of St. Johnsville; a son, Leonard Tisi and wife Debbie of Bismarck, ND; a daughter, Debra Roberts and husband Donald of Frankfort; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa Maillie and husband Dave, Jim Schafer and wife Samantha, Steven Schafer and wife Hilary, Jeff Schafer, Christopher Tisi and wife Amber, Angela Steele and husband John, Katie Tisi, Tamara Doolen and husband Bert, Karie Mathews and husband Scott; his beloved great grandchildren, Tanner, Trent and Tyler Maillie, Jerzey and Brooklynn Tisi and Bert, Logan and Carter Doolen; his sisters, Nancy Coffin of East Herkimer, Ida Rich and Mary Raiello both of Little Falls; his sisters-in-law, Mary Sandy and Sharon Bosch, his step children, Janie Martyniuk and husband Peter, Larry Allen and wife Verna, Gordie Allen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a daughter, Linda Schafer; a brother, Orlando Tisi and sisters, Catherine LaPorta, Jennie Calafrancesco Lorenzonie, Sarah Federico, Rosie Perkov and Phlena Coffin. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Enea Family Funeral home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424 on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Bennie's funeral service will commence on Monday, December 17, 2012, beginning with prayer at 10:15 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, corner of Main/John Streets, Little Falls, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Folts Home for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion shown to Bennie during his time there.
