Obituary of Norma J. Stegich

Mrs. Norma J. Stegich, 78, of North Main Street, Dolgeville, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening December 23, 2012 in Little Falls Hospital, with her daughter and family members by her side. She was born on June 5, 1934 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy Siver Leskovar; she attended Oppenheim schools and was a lifelong resident of Dolgeville. In October, 2001 Norma was predeceased by her husband Stephen R. Stegich, Jr. Prior to her retirement in 1995, Norma was employed as a line worker with various companies throughout Dolgeville. She was a very conscientious and dedicated mother and employee. Norma was of the Methodist faith. During her later years she enjoyed crossword puzzles, the company of friends and the peaceful companionship of her beloved dog Mitzy. Norma is survived by her beloved children and their spouses, LuAnn Grodis of Rochester, David and Iva Stegich of Las Vegas, NV, Michele and John Cool of Dolgeville, and Steven and Debra Stegich of Stafford, Va.; she was predeceased in 1985 by daughter Stacy Lynn Stegich. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Louis and Ellie Leskovar of Va., Robert (Buster) and Pam Leskovar of Ilion, Dorothy Leskovar of Ilion, and Patricia Diederichs of Dolgeville; her grandchildren and their spouses, Diana Grodis, David Grodis, Ashley Stegich and Gabriel Sandinio, Kayla Stegich, Tyler and Althena Strickland, Jennifer and John Cyr, Stephanie (Nikki) and Dustin Dutcher, Dalton Hayes and Raymond Cool; her great grandchildren, Madison Cyr, Ashley Cyr, Nicole Cyr, Tenleigh Strickland and Grace Sandinio as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and five step children. Norma was recently predeceased by her beloved and loyal canine companion and friend, Mitzy in July 2012. Keeping with Norma's and the family's wishes there will be no visitation. Contributions and donations in her memory may be offered to the Dolgeville Food Pantry or Dolgeville Methodist Church. The family would like to extend their warmest heartfelt gratitude to Mom's loving, loyal and devoted friend Mrs. Dorothy George. Dorothy's constant companionship and care was a source of comfort and joy for our mom in her later years and we are so very grateful for her, we love you. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Nadine and Chris Johnson for their assistance in transporting Mom to all her medical appointments, it was greatly appreciated. A special thank you also to Mom's neighbors, especially Greg and Lee Gonyea who were always there to lend a hand and watch over our mom, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Lastly, we wish to extend our gratitude to Dr. Amy Grace and RN Sharon Kirchoffer for their kindness, compassion and care to ensure mom had a peaceful passing.
