ILION: David F. Richardson, 75, a life time Ilion resident, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the home of his daughter, Linda with the love and support of his family by his side. David was born in Ilion, NY on July 12, 1937, the son of the late Wallace and Frances (Tasovac) Richardson. He attended Ilion Schools and then enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1955, serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1963. On May 8, 1971 he was united in marriage to the former Dolores Guyer in Ilion, NY; the couple sharing 42 years of commitment, love and mutual respect. David worked as a machinist for Remington Arms, Ilion. David was a member of the Ilion Fish & Game Club. An avid sportsman and outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He also enjoyed the CASINO, especially the slots and bingo. For David, family functions were made special any time that he was surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom he adored spending time with. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores; his son, David Richardson and companion Cheryl Bancroft of Sylvan Beach; his daughters, Linda LaPorte and husband Jerry of Ilion, Mary Comins and companion Walt Reel of Mohawk, Cathy Krowicki and husband Allen of Newport, Denice Archer and husband Lewie of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; his brothers, Terry Stone and wife Carol of Mohawk, Larry Stone of Florida, Tom Stone and wife Terry of Illinois; his sisters, Thelma Richardson of Newport, Debbie Richardson and companion Everett of Florida, Sharon Ferdula and husband Joe of Frankfort; and an aunt, Thelma Scanlon of Mohawk; in-laws, Yvonne and Fritz Sade of Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special and close friend, Ron Wilson of Ilion. He was predeceased by a son, Buddy Leuenberger in 2003 and his mother-in-law, Daisy Firman. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315)894-8000 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. His funeral service will commence immediately following calling hours at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon James Bower, officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery, German Street, Herkimer, NY with full military honors. In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy in David's memory can be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
