Carol Jean (Dibble) Hoffman, 67, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 12, 2013, in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford, with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 22, 1945 in Ilion. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Tennant) Dibble and was a graduate of Ilion High School. After following the love of her life to California, Carol Jean married William G. Hoffman on February 23, 1964, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman settled back in Ilion and have been lifelong residents while raising their family here. Over the years, Carol has been employed at Remington Arms, Inc., The Big M, Herkimer County Cheese Factory, and Crossway's Corner Store in Ilion. Carol was a past president of the Marine Corp League Auxiliary and a member of the AMVETS Auxiliary. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt, whose greatest enjoyment in life and pride came from spending time with her loving family. Earlier in her life, Carol and her family enjoyed camping together. She loved taking pictures of their time together, as a family. Later in her life, she became a fan of cooking TV shows, and enjoyed keeping in touch with her many friends on Facebook. Carol loved her family's pets dearly, and her funny sense of humor will be missed. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of forty eight years, William "Bill" Hoffman of Ilion; Her sons and daughters-in-law, William "Billy" and Dawn Hoffman of S. Berwick, ME and Eric and Gabrielle Hoffman of Albany; Her daughters and son-in-law, Bambi and Mike Luchock of Athol, MA and Carrie Hoffman and Eugene Sumner of Palm Springs, CA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, Her Aunt Theresa Heath, two cousins, her nephew, Larry Smith. Carol was predeceased by her sister, Linda Smith in 2008. Carol's funeral service will be held 12 p.m.(noon), Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the chapel of the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, Town of Frankfort, with the Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
