I knew Rose before she was 'Gram' to everyone else; she was just Rosie to us. Over 55 years ago, our family lived next to hers on Main Street. Even then, her door was always open and no one ever knocked. Uncle Bill lived at the top of the stairs; Dar and I were just a year apart. Joan Pelky and Larry must have been teenagers then, or so I remember. Some of my fondest memories of Rosie are about cooking and food. I remember when the house on Main Street was being shingled. The workers seemed to be taking forever to get the job done when someone found out they were delaying the work because Rosie fed them lunch every day and they didn't want to give that up. She fed everyone. In the mid-50s, I remember one night, it was late, probably around ten, friends of theirs arrived with their hungry children (seems there were 8 or 10 of them) and before they could even say 'hello' Rosie was fixing a big dinner for them. I remember hearing the sizzle of pork chops on the big, black, wood-burning stove. That was way before Al modernized the kitchen. Rosie was famous for her 'Half-moon cookies' (now called black and whites.). And who could forget her spaghetti? On weekends, Rosie would invite me to go to camp with them. 'Camp' was a house built near Hinkley Reservoir. We'd arrive on Friday night and everyone would play Canasta, drink coke and go to bed late. On Saturday morning, we would walk down to Al's mom's house, pump water from the well and carry it back up the hill to the house because there was no running water. They called it 'Camp Aldarolajomi' (for Al, Darlene, Rose, Larry, Joan and Mike). Later in the afternoon, we would get in the back of Al's pickup and ride through the woods until we found just the right place to pick blackberries. We always ate more than we put in our buckets but Rosie always had enough for blackberry pie. When it was really hot, we would go to the lake for a swim. We moved when I was 12 but the memories of Rosie never go away. There was never a time when Rosie was anything other than kind, caring and compassionate. Her door and her heart were open to everyone. Who among us is not a better person for having known her?

Almost every saturday my gramp and i would go to her house when i went their i would eat her cookies and before we left i would get lollypops sometimes before we went me and my gramp would buy her flowers or grams favorite drink from Macdonalds a strawberry smoothe the dogs were so cute and they loved my gramp when he brought them something to eat.Every Christmas we would get her something same with her birthday but she would love them both so much also every Christmas her tree would come out the best and the most prettiest. Every year gram would love to plant a garden and every summer she would love to go outside a listen to jerimia the frog by the pond.I know that gram is in a better place now up in heaven with my mom she will be looking over everybody that she loved.I know that know body will forget you I just wish gram was with us a little longer so I could say i love you and i will miss you forever and i know that everybody will remember you and they will not forget you rvery night i will say a prayer and i will try not to cry i love and i will always and i will always remember you i promise.

I have alot of memories of the time i lived with you,such as you sitting at that big table with all of us eating dinner,or watching an after school special we had to watch for school,but my favorite memory of you is how you showed me patience and understanding when i wasn't able to call you (Gram)as the other kids did.as my time grew with you,i came to realize what all the other kids already knew about you,and that was you were a loving and compasionate woman,that treated all her kids as equals,and that is when i was able to call you Gram for the first time.may god bless you.

Larry and family, Please accept our sympathy at the loss of your mother. I always remember those poker games in your mothers kitchen, I wasn't very good at it and she always gave me money to play with after mine was all gone. Our prayeers are with all of you, may she rest in peace. John

Darlene, Larry and families, I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Rosie was an inspiration to every life she touched,she was such an amazing women.I feel so blessed that she was a part of my life and so honored to have been named after her.Even though I did"nt see her often, I thought of her often, she will always hold that special place in my heart.
