LITTLE FALLS: Gary A. Smith, 59, a lifelong Little Falls area resident passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with the love and support of his family at his side. He was born on March 16, 1953 in Little Falls, the son of the late Harry and Mary (Pasquale) Smith. Gary was a 1971 graduate of Little Falls High School, and a graduate of SUNY Cortland, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He met the "love of his life", the former Diane Deming, at just 14 years old, and married her on June 14, 1975 at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. The couple shared an adoring relationship during their 37 years of marriage, showing abiding love and devotion to one another throughout their storybook kind of love. Gary always had an exceptional work ethic. Most recently, he was employed by Adirondack Bank. Prior to that, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Zogby International. He worked for 18 years at The Herkimer County Trust Company, holding various positions in the organization. Gary began his working career at the Glen & Mohawk Milk Association Inc., in Fultonville. Gary was formerly a member of Kiwanis International and Little Falls Civic Club. He coached Apostle League, CYO Basketball, and Babe Ruth Baseball. Gary enjoyed assisting his wife with class advisor activities. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. Gary loved swimming, camping, reading, and taking trips to the ocean. He enjoyed visiting Cape Cod, Myrtle Beach, and Lake George. Gary's wife, children and their spouses, and granddaughter were his greatest joy in life. He expressed many times that nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with them. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; a daughter, Tara Krasuski and husband Keith of Little Falls; a son, Bryan Smith and wife Julia of Fairport; a cherished granddaughter, Alana Callista Smith; a brother, Barry Smith and wife Jean, his father-in-law, Ronald Deming; in-laws, Ron and Sally Deming and Barbara Smith; an aunt, Lucy Brown, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, who was more like family, Barbara Cinquanta.
