Obituary of Rita M. Klimacek

Rita M. Klimacek, 95, lifelong resident of Little Falls, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 9, 2013, in The Pines at Utica, where she had been a resident for the past few years, with her loving Son and family by her side. She was born on July 22, 1917, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Donovan Grau. Rita was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Little Falls. On June 4, 1949, she married Milan Klimacek in Little Falls. The couple had resided in Little Falls their entire life until his passing on December 15, 2003. Prior to her retirement, Rita was employed as an inspector with the Allegro Shoe Corporation, Little Falls, for many years. She was a longtime communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. Rita enjoyed traveling to Saratoga on their yearly trips during the month of August and took time canning all the vegetables from their home garden. Her greatest loves in life were her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she cherished every moment and memory she shared with them. Rita is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, William and Patty (Russo) Klimacek of New Hartford; her grandchildren, John Andrew and Katie Diane of New Hartford, her sisters-in-law, Molly Grau of Little Falls and Rose Grau of Dolgeville and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edmund Grau and Frank Grau and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Zambri. Rita's funeral will commence 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from Holy Family Parish, E. Main Street, Little Falls, where her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In keeping hers and the family's wishes there will be no public visitation. The family asks to please omit all floral offerings. Contributions, in Rita's memory, may be offered to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 4th Floor Staff at The Pines at Utica especially acknowledging Gloria and Laurie for all of their compassion and care.
