Obituary of David Simonelli

HERKIMER: David A. Simonelli, 63 a lifelong Utica/Herkimer area resident passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at his home. Born in New Hartford, NY on March 9, 1949, David is the son of Mary (LoCash) Simonelli of Frankfort and the late Carl Simonelli. He was educated in Utica Schools and attended Mohawk Valley Community College. David was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. For many years, he was a self-employed contractor throughout the Mohawk Valley. In his spare time, David was an avid golfer. He is survived by his mother, Mary; a son, David Simonelli of California; a grandson, Justice Simonelli of California; nieces, Shelly Forrester and husband Bryan and Tammy Kenneally; nephews, Brian Simonelli and wife Carolyn and David Stewart; uncles, Peter LoCaccio and his fiancé, Irmengard Scarfile, John and Vera Simonelli, Robert Simonelli and many great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Carl Simonelli. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY, (315)894-8000. Friends and relatives are invited to attend David's funeral service following calling hours on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street, Frankfort where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will then follow to Calvary Cemetery, 2407 Oneida Street, Utica, NY where he will be laid to rest next to his brother and father, with full military honors. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Jr., Funeral Director.
