Obituary of Russell A. LaFontaine

Herkimer: Russell A. LaFontaine, 91, of Herkimer and formerly of Champlain, NY, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 15, 2013, in the Folts Home, Inc., Herkimer, with his family by his side. He was born on December 22, 1921, in Champlain, the son of the late Emmett and Elsie Allard LaFontaine and was educated in Champlain Schools. Russell served in the United States Army during World War II. He married the former Leona Dupee. Mrs. LaFontaine passed away in 1988. Prior to his retirement, Russell was employed with the Keough Bros. Tug Boat Company, Albany. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Russell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Patricia LaFontaine of Ilion and his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Melanie and Aaron Sandquist of Wheatfield, NY. He was predeceased by his brothers, Floyd LaFontaine and Armand LaFontaine. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, February 18, 2013, from 6 -7 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, Town of Frankfort. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a celebration of Russell's life at 7 p.m. Interment will take place later this spring back home in Champlain at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Russell's memory may be offered to the Folts Home Foundation, 104 N. Washington Street, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at the Folts Home for all their compassionate care and making Russell's stay there as comfortable as possible.
