Obituary of Olga B. Brandano

MOHAWK - Olga B. Brandano, age 91, of 59 W. Main St., Mohawk, and Deerfield Beach, Florida, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Cumming, Georgia. She was the daughter of Louis and Gertrude (Staley) Binder, and graduated from Ilion High School and Albany School of Nursing. On December 7, 1945, she was married to Benny Brandano, of Herkimer. Olga graduated from Utica School of Cosmetology, and owned and operated Olga's Beauty Salon for several years. At one time she organized charity drives for Multiple Sclerosis in Mohawk. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and the Rosary Society. Mrs. Brandano was active in the Mohawk PTA and the Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary. Olga was known for her cooking, and loved to entertain her family and friends, especially at her summer home on Canadarago Lake. Survivors include her husband, Benny; her children, John Brandano and his wife, Peggy, of Parkland, FL, Susan Donnell and her husband, Michael, of Hilton Head Island, SC, Edward Brandano, of Herkimer, Patrick Brandano and his wife, Mary, of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Mary Anne, 'Mimi', Kaszycki and her husband, Peter, of Alpharetta, GA; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Brandano (Edward), her sister, Martha Morris, and her step-sister, Mary Benedetto. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Mass later this summer on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of the Annunciation, West St., Ilion. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
