DOLGEVILLE- Mr. Kenneth Dean Jobe "Jobie", 74, of Howard St. Ext., passed away on March 3, 2013 at Little Falls Hospital with his loving family at his side. His courageous battle with his illness has finally ended in peace. He was born on October 12, 1938 in California, Missouri, son of the late Edward and Lucille Loretta (Relford) Jobe. On March 21, 1964 he was united in marriage with Virginia Youker . Their loving union lasted over 46 years until her passing on September 13, 2010. Ken spent most of his working career primarily with Daniel Green Shoe Company; he was a Supervisor at Daniel Greens in Dolgeville for over 30 years. Previous to working and living in Dolgeville, he lived in Missouri .He graduated from California High School in Missouri with a natural gift in writing. He never pursued his writing career but was an avid reader his entire life .He read three papers every day. .He used much of this information in conversing with people in conversation as a well- read individual. Also, in his youth he developed a love for singing, sounding like many of his beloved favorites, especially Jim Reeves. His family grew up listening to his favorites. He sang to his wife frequently and many others in the community .He was in many community events showcasing his singing and acting talent used for fund raising in the organizations. His love of serving others shined as a member of the Dolgeville Lions Club, The Salisbury Grange, the Oppenheim Senior Citizen Center and the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club. He was very civic minded and was very involved in these community organizations. Most importantly, in Ken's life, was his dearly loved wife, his children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His greatest enjoyment was being with them anytime or anywhere; holidays, special celebrations or in everyday life. Especially during holiday time, there would be family playing a game of pitch lasting many hours. As a dad and grandfather, "family held the dearest place in his heart" as he so often expressed. Away from home, his family remembers years of fishing and spending time at Oxbow Lake with his wife, and many other extended family members and friends. Fishing was central to numerous events that always brought joy to Ken and others. Additionally, traveling and visiting relatives and friends across the US was a common interest he shared with wife and children for many years. Ken's hunting, in his earlier years, was a hobby he individually loved. He sacrificed for his family on all other areas of his life. His home was always open to strangers, friends, and family with southern hospitality and gentility. He was a man of strong faith, growing up Baptist in Missouri and continuing with humble acts of benevolence until his passing. Many times his generosity was motivated "for the least of them among us." Ken and his wife "opened up their home" to many families providing them new hope and happiness. Survivors include his 3 daughters: Donna Geraty of Dolgeville, Bonnie Kaminski and her husband Richard of Dolgevile and Judy Ruffing and her husband Mark of Little Falls, his grandchildren: Christene White, Shannon Corbitt, Edward Geraty, Daniel Geraty, Adam Geraty, Heather Fox and his special granddaughter Jessica Eggleston and her husband Craig; his 12 great grandchildren; his sisters: Donna Elder and her husband Charles of Missouri and Kathy Manier and her husband Robert of Missouri; his very special friend Constance Juno and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia and by his sister Lynda Wilson. The family will receive relatives and friends at Ken's memorial visitation at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville from 5-7pm on Thursday March 7, 2013. A religious service will be held at the funeral home at 10am on Friday March 8, 2013 with the Rev. Marvin Isum officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Mallett Hill Cemetery, Town of Stratford where he will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Ken's name be made to the Salisbury Center Grange Hall in Salisbury Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
