Obituary of Marshall Scialdo

NAPLES, Fla. — Marshall A. Scialdo, Sr., passed away, after a brief illness, on March 9, 2013, in Naples, Florida, at age 93. He was born September 14, 1919, in Herkimer, New York. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Lucy Compolo Scialdo; parents, Bettina and Claudio; and brothers, Roland, William, Michael and Andrew. Marshall has one deceased grandson, Marc Scialdo. He is survived by siblings, Ida and Rudolph; children, Marsha, Richard (Janice), Barbara (Stanley), and Marshall, Jr. (Susan); seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Marshall was retired from the family business, C. Scialdo and Sons General Contracting. Prior to that, he owned and managed several produce markets in Herkimer. Unable to join the military in WW II, he closed his business to proudly serve his country with employment at the Remington Arms Company in Ilion, New York. Marshall was an avid bowler, golfer and bocce player, and had an unrelenting and admirable joy and zest for life. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Saints Anthony and Joseph Catholic Church in Herkimer, New York, followed by burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Herkimer, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to Saints Anthony & Joseph Catholic Church, 344 So. Washington St., Herkimer, NY 13350 or to the Naples Italian American Foundation, 7035 Airport Pulling Road No., Naples, FL 34109. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harry J. Enea, Jr., of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011.
