Obituary of Helen Louise Eaker

DOLGEVILLE- Helen Louise Nickerson Eaker, 97, a kind and caring lady of faith known to many as "Aunt Helen" passed away Sunday March 24, 2013 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Home where she had resided since January 2011. She was born on April 22, 1915, in the Town of Little Falls, the daughter of John and Theresa (Farber) Nickerson. On August 24, 1949 she was united in marriage with Allison Eaker. They shared a loving union of 33 years until his passing in 1982. Survivors include her best friend and niece Clara Sue Jorrey; her nephews: Richard, Brad and Gerry Ploss, Willard Nickerson; her niece Andrea Ploss Maynard, her great niece Mary Jo Kersey, her great nephew Richard Gressler and her special cousin Ruth Petkovsek. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved sister Dorothy Nickerson Gressler Schwiler, her brothers: Donald and Willard Nickerson and Richard Ploss and by her nephews: John Nickerson and Robert Gressler. In keeping with Helen's wishes there are no calling hours but a funeral service with be held at 7pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Dolgeville Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Diluzio officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Dolgeville Cemetery. A sincere thank you is given to the staff of Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the care given her and may they know that she is finally home. She always tried to repay their kindness with a smile. Any gifts in her memory may be given to the Association for the Blind, 507 Kent St. , Utica, NY or to the charity of one's choice.
