Obituary of Sharon Jaquish

Sharon Jaquish, 70, lifelong resident of E. Herkimer, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 27, 1943, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Esther Leonard Kast. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School and went on to earn her CNA. On June 2, 1961, Sharon married Frank J. Jaquish in the Herkimer Methodist Church. Mr. Jaquish passed away on August, 17, 2003. Sharon was retired from the Little Falls Hospital, where she had many years of dedicated service. She was a member of the East Herkimer Snow Riders and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Sharon's greatest pride and joy was her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and going to the casino with her friends. Sharon was also the happiest when she was on the St. Lawrence River spending time with her many dear friends. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws, Robin and William Jones of Rome, Janine and Brian Thompson of Herkimer and Rachel and James Harter of Herkimer; her sister, Cheryl Kast of Herkimer; her grandchildren, Ashley and Thomas Powers, Ryan and Megan Thompson, Zachary and Dylan Harter, William and Derrick Jones; her great grandchildren, Kaydence, Landon and Addyson; her several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her many dear friends, Peggy Cool and Margaret Hailston and many friends at the St. Lawrence. Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Jack Kast , her sister, Sandra McCarthy and her mother-in-law, Mabel Jaquish. Sharon's funeral will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 2-5 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home. In Sharon's memory kindly consider contributions to the East Herkimer Fire Department or the Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. of CNY. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Her family would like to thank Peggy Cool, Margaret Hailston and the entire staff at Hospice for their compassion and support through this very difficult time.
