Obituary of Eva Farber

MOHAWK: Eva A. Farber, 87, a lifetime Mohawk Valley resident passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with the love and support of her family at her side. Eva was born on July 20, 1925 in the Town of Russia, the daughter of the late William and Eva (Barney) Christman. She attended Poland Schools and on August 11, 1942 was married to Carl Farber who passed away on March 24, 1985. Eva once worked in the library at Foley Middle School, for the Herkimer County Historical Society and the New York State Green Thumb Program running the Craft Cooperative Store in the Herkimer King's Court Mall and also worked as a chef's assistant at the General Herkimer Hotel. She was a former member of the Town of Ohio American Legion Auxiliary and the Gray Woman's Auxiliary. A family oriented- individual, Eva enjoyed nothing more than when she was in the company of her loved ones and one of her most important ways of showing her generosity was through her numerous wonderful meals that she put on the table for her family and friends to enjoy. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and of course, the New York Yankees. She is survived by her sons, William Farber and his companion Carol of St. Johnsville, Carl Farber and wife Iva of Newport, Edward Farber and wife Rebecca of the Town of Fairfield, Chris Farber and wife Kathleen of Little Falls, Larry Farber of Herkimer, Hubert Farber and wife Robin of Ilion and Richard Farber of Ilion; her daughters, Mary Hoke and husband Alfred of Stratford, Carol Burdick and husband Larry of Herkimer and Joanne Sterling and husband Kevin of Frankfort; 27 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; her sisters, Leah Seelman of Remsen, Emma Stafford of Poland, Una Avery of Ilion and Wilma Beaudin and husband Lester of Poland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Bussey and Mary Morgan.
