Obituary of Donald C. Doxstader

DOLGEVILLE- A man who was weary of reading obituaries once said "I want people to celebrate my life, not mourn my death." Donald C. Doxstader Jr "Doc" a lifelong resident of Dolgeville passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, April 6 2013. He was born on April 4, 1955 to Donald Doxstader Sr. and June (Randall) Doxstader. Donnie was a graduate of Dolgeville Central School - class of 1973. He was a local bar owner for many years, until he shifted his interests to carpentry and wood craft. He was an avid member of the Rod N' Gun Club, were he spent many hours fishing and shooting guns with his family. He was ultimately stubborn, did not follow orders well and he raised hell for more than 5 decades but he lived his life the way he believed it should be lived. He enjoyed beer, guns, cars, rock n 'roll, football, old westerns and his children, not necessarily in that order. Donnies' signature everyday look was all his own: a plain pocketed T-Shirt designed by Fruit of the Loom, plain black elastic sweat pants which were worn well above the navel and a pair of old moccasins (who can ever remember where he got those) that were always paired with a worn in Oakland Raiders baseball cap. He loved his long time companion Tina Schaffer; He was very proud of his children, Janessa Doxstader of Manchester, NH; Jay Doxstader and Joseph Doxstader of Dolgeville. He taught them to fish, love nature, camp and to just be thankful. He is also survived by his mother June (Randall) Doxstader; his brothers Dale Doxstader; and Dave and Val Doxstader of Waterloo, NY. He did not get enough time with his grandchildren Chase Doxstader of Little Falls or Isis Rayn Jordan-Doxstader of Turner, Maine, his nieces and nephews Katie Doxstader, DJ Doxstader, Aaron Doxstader, Dana Doxstader, Nicole Doxstader and Jason Doxstader as well as numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Doxstader Sr. on November 9, 2007 and his son SPC Justin Doxstader on September 27, 2009. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Ave., Dolgeville from 4-6pm on Friday April 12, 2013. The family is being cared for by Brian A. Roberts, Funeral Director. To offer an online message of sympathy please go to www.robertsandenea.com
