Obituary of Jane N. Crouch

(Mary) Jane N. Crouch, 93, of Ilion and longtime resident of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, Saturday April 13, 2012, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 20, 1919, in Herkimer the daughter of the late Francis and Bess Johnson Nelson and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On February 3, 1940, Jane was married to Vernon E. Crouch by Rev. Fred Cotnam in the Herkimer Methodist Church, Herkimer. Mr. Crouch passed away October 30, 1996. Jane retired from Duofold, Inc. in Mohawk where she worked in payroll for many years. In her earlier years, she work for several different offices throughout the Mohawk Valley. Jane was a talented seamstress who dedicated and voluteered her time to many organizations, especially the Folts Home where she was for eighteen years as a mender and sewer. Jane was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church. She was a very devoted and active member with the church and always was creating many beautiful crafts that she donated for the church bazaar every year. Jane was also very active with being a scout den mother for the boy scouts, cub scouts, girls scouts and brownies. During her free time, she enjoyed bowling and was an avid bowler. Jane for over thirty five years was the secretary for the Mohawk Vally WIBC. Jane was a wonderful kind hearted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all of those she touched throughout her life. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and David Rockwell of Mohawk; her sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and Janet Crouch of Mohawk, David and Terri Crouch of Mohawk, James and Laurie Crouch of Ilion and Eleanor Crouch of Nelliston; her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gladys Nelson of Ilion; her twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; her serveral nieces, nephews and cousins. Jane was predeceased by her son, Thomas. Jane's funeral will be 11 a.m. , Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, with the Rev. Brian Engel, Pastor of the Mohawk Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Mohawk Cemetery in the village of Mohawk, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Relatives and Friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Herkimer. In loving memory of Jane, the family has asked to kindly consider contributions to the Mohawk Reformed Church or the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a warm heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, especially all of the staff on the second floor for all of their loving compassionate care showed towards Jane and her family throughout the years.
