Obituary of Frank Palumbo

FRANKFORT: Frank D. "Boop" Palumbo, 82, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center with the love and support of his family at his side. Born in Frankfort, NY on March 8, 1931, Boop was the son of the late Frank and Theresa (Chard) Palumbo. He was educated in Frankfort Schools and on July 30, 1955 he married the former Therese Oakes at St. Mary's Church, Frankfort with whom he shared an inseparable devotion during their 57 years of marriage. Boop had a diligent work ethic and worked a bread route for Raspante's Bakery, was a custodian for many years at the Reese Road Elementary School and after retirement, assisted in the family business, The Knight Spot Restaurant. During his leisure time he loved to play cards, bet the horses, garden, and tend to his fruit trees. As a loving and very family-oriented husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed a special bond with his family and friends. Dedicating time to his granddaughters was his whole life and they were, "The Loves of His Life". He is survived by his beloved wife, Terri of Frankfort; his sons, Alex Palumbo and Donna Kinney, Frank "Foof" Palumbo; daughters, Theresa Plano and Tami Palumbo all of Frankfort; his cherished granddaughters, Alexis Palumbo, Alexandra Palumbo, Therese Plano, Simone Palumbo and Dominique Pizzo-Palumbo; a brother, James Palumbo and wife Mary Fran of Schuyler; his in-laws, Eileen Haberer of Westmoreland, Mary Wells and husband Bud of Prospect and Mike Fiorentino of Frankfort; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Palumbo and his wife Vita, Alex Palumbo and his wife Connie and George Palumbo; his sisters, Frances Tomaino and her husband Mike, Rose Bellino and her husband Zep, Phyllis Fiorentino and a grandson, Frankie Palumbo. The family is grateful to the wonderful staff at the Aspen House at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center for their kindness, care and compassion shown to Boop. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315)894-8000. Procession will then follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort where he will be laid to rest. In Lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions can be made to the Frankfort Ambulance Corp who provided care for Boop for many years; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Jr., Funeral Director.
