Obituary of Janice Marie Perez

FRANKFORT - Mrs. Janice Marie (Finch) Perez, a longtime Fourth Avenue Frankfort resident, passed away into the arms of our Lord Sunday morning, April 28, 2013, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with the love of her family (husband Carlos) at her side. Janice was born on August 30, 1940 in Westmoreland, a daughter of the late Kenneth Croft and Adella Young Buck. She resided in Frankfort for 18 years; prior to that, she lived on Prospect Avenue, Ilion. She received her education in Frankfort schools. On September 26, 1977, on Carlos' 29th birthday, she and Carlos Perez were married, beginning 36 years of unconditional love. Janice was a line supervisor for many years at G.E. Corp., Utica. She also worked for XRC, building X-ray machines in Jai alai, Florida. Janice was of the Catholic faith and was devoted to the Blessed Mother, and had many statues of Her. She enjoyed knitting, bingo, camping, fishing, and she loved Elvis. Janice is survived by her loving family; her husband, Carlos; sons: Charles Doolen and his wife Barbara of Utica, and Daniel Doolen of Syracuse; a daughter, Theresa Major and her husband Frank Major of Florida; her grandchildren whom she adored: Charles and Lindsey Doolen III, Jason Doolen, Joe and Jennifer Renaldo, Steve Major, and Michael Major. Additional family members, Rebecca Doolen and Audette Doolen, and a cousin, Richard Buck of Remsen, a brother-in-law, Sergio A. Perez of Dansville, NY, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive her. She also leaves behind her canine companion, Buddy. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (town of Frankfort). Janice's funeral will begin with prayer at the funeral home on Thursday, May 2, at 9:45 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Reverend Leo Potvin at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street. Procession will follow to the chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery, where committal prayers will be offered; she will then be laid to rest. Janice's family would like extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and CCU staff at Faxton-St.Luke's Healthcare for the excellent care and kindness shown to her during her illness.
