Mrs. Elvera "Bema" DeLucco, 92, a resident of 33 West Spofford Ave. since 1999, passed away on Tuesday April 30, 2013 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Elvera was born September 28, 1920 in Dolgeville, daughter of Nicholas and Innocenza Bolotta Fragiacomo who were immigrants from Feroleto Antico Province, Italy. She graduated from Dolgeville High School, class of 1939.She then attended Hartwick College. Elvera was united in marriage to Charles J. DeLucco at St. Joseph's church on June 7, 1942. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles on October 31, 1998 after 56 years of a very special and loving marriage. Elvera was a faithful member of St. Joseph's church where she was an active member of the Catholic Women's Club. Elvera was employed during World War II at Eastern Aircraft, a division of General Motors, located in Linden, NJ. She was last employed in the main office of the former Daniel Green Company in Dolgeville, retiring after 33 years of dedicated service. Elvera also could often be found in her spare time helping her husband Charlie, who was co-owner and proprietor of the Dolgeville News Store. Elvera, better known as Bema to her friends, always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She was one of the kindest and most caring people ever, always trying to bring joy into the hearts of others. She also loved her monthly luncheons with her special group of friends. Another of her favorite things was to scour the grass during her frequent walks to find 4-leaf clovers, something at which she was a master. Every member of her family received numerous 4-leaf clovers as her special little way of showing her love and hope for their future happiness and protection. Bema was a tremendous cook, especially noted for her homemade chicken soup, meatballs and spaghetti sauce. Holidays were a special occasion for Bema. Everyone looked forward to her Christmas cookies, sausage pie, and Italian Easter Chocolate Pie. Most of all Bema was a loving wife and mother, devoted to her family with a special love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Nana" lived for the moments she could share with all of them. In her later years that is what brought the deepest love and an everlasting joy to her heart. Elvera is survived by her loving family: two daughters, Mary Lou Huddleston and her husband John of Dolgeville, NY, Debra Foster and her husband Bruce of Salisbury, NY; a sister, Amelia "Molly" DeNinno; four grandchildren, Colleen Huddleston of Dolgeville, NY, CJ Huddleston of Altamonte Springs, Fl, Nicole Foster-Roche of Saratoga Springs, NY, Megan Foster of Saratoga Springs, NY. Nana also leaves behind her adored great grandchildren, Rachael Huddleston of Dolgeville, NY, Isabella and Giovanna Roche of Saratoga Springs, NY. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews. Elvera was pre-deceased by a sister, Connie Leavitt; two brothers, Antonio and Raymond Fragiacomo; a niece Dr. Patricia Marzicola; and a nephew, George Raymond Leavitt. There will be no calling hours and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
