Obituary of William Giachetti

MOHAWK: William "Wild Bill" Giachetti, 64, a longtime Herkimer and Mohawk resident, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Born in Herkimer on April 26, 1949, Bill was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Dupont) Giachetti. Raised and educated locally, he attended Herkimer schools. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bill honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He shared 36 years of marriage, full of treasured family memories, with his wife Wendy. Wild Bill was a lifelong trucker, retiring on May 13, 2013 after 15 years of dedicated service to Walmart. Bill took great pride in his home and being around family and friends made him most happy. In his spare time he enjoyed watching western movies, farming, gardening, fishing, hunting and sharing an ice cream cone with his dog, Rosco. Bill is survived by his wife, Wendy; his son Bill Giachetti and wife Kari of Richfield Springs; his daughters, Heidi Emrich and husband Michael of Ilion, Tanya LeMay and husband Derek of Boonton, NJ and Sarah Giachetti of Parsippany, NJ; his beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Emrich, Amelia Moore, Quinten and Spencer LeMay and Tyler and Carlie Sapara; a sister, Lisa Bevers of Alabama; and his dog, Rosco. Bill also leaves behind several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Butch Giachetti and a sister, Mary Slack. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315)894-8000. Bill's funeral service will take place immediately following calling hours at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Bill would have appreciated a donation to The NephCure Foundation to support the research and cure for Nephrotic syndrome; a disease which his grandson Quinten currently struggles with. Memorial offerings can be sent to www.NephCure.org. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Jr., Funeral Director.
