Obituary of Charles A Oldfield

LITTLE FALLS: Charles A. "Chuck Barney" Oldfield,Sr., 77, a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 24, 2013. Chuck was born in Herkimer on October 22, 1935, the son of the late Andrew and Jennie Mae (Seeds) Oldfield. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School and later attended Utica College. On April 28, 1962 he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Critser at St. Joseph's Church in Little Falls, sharing 51 years of love and mutual respect. Chuck at one time was employed as a machine operator for Herkimer Wood Products, which was operated by his family. He also worked at the Little Falls German Maennerchor, the Herkimer Elks Lodge and St. Mary's Academy until its closing. A very active member of the Elk's, he served as past Exalted Ruler, past Trustee, was Little Falls Elk of the Year and a life member of the Little Falls Elks. He was also a life member of the Little Falls Polish Club, a honorary member of the Little Falls German Maennerchor and a member of the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. He is survived by his wife Shirley; a son, Charles Oldfield, Jr. of Little Falls; a daughter, Brenda Nichols of Little Falls; his cherished grandchildren, Todd Nichols, Brianna Lee Nichols and Andruw Oldfield; a sister-in-law, Lois Oldfield of Herkimer; a brother-in-law, James Critser and wife Sandra of Little Falls; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Clara Lincourt, Evelyn Spencer and Geraldine Engert and his brothers, Bill Oldfield, Vernon Oldfield and Alfred Oldfield. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Procession will then follow to Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Town of Little Falls, were he will be laid to rest. In lieu of floral offerings, kindly consider a donation in Chuck's memory to Holy Family Parish. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Little Falls Elk's Lodge will conduct their ritualistic service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. The family is being cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
