Obituary of Frances Mlekoday

HERKIMER: Frances Mlekoday, 88, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of her family. Born in Little Falls, NY on February 12, 1925, Frances was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Malinowski) Witkowski. She was raised and educated locally. On August 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to Joseph Mlekoday in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, sharing 44 years of love and respect until his passing in January of 1991. Frances enjoyed being a homemaker, and providing for her family at home was the source of strength and comfort to her. She was a loving mother and an adored grandmother; playing cards with her granddaughters being one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and had a great admiration for flowers. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Frances was a member of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, Herkimer. She is survived by her beloved son, Joseph Mlekoday and wife Barbara of Herkimer; her cherished granddaughters, Helen and Marianne Mlekoday of Herkimer; her brothers, William Witkowski of Rochester, Charles Witkowski of Palatine Bridge, Stanley Witkowski of Herkimer, John Witkowski and special friend Peg Singer of Tucson, AZ; along with her sisters, Clara Sarafin and husband John of Herkimer, and Stephanie Greseck and her husband Stanley of Richfield Springs. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Helen Witkowski of Orlando, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Witkowski, and sisters, Julia Smagalski, Stella Witkowski, and Edna Orcheski. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315)866-1011. In lieu of floral arrangements, those wishing to express an act of kindness in the form of a memorial contribution may consider Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, Herkimer; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Frances' funeral on Saturday, August 24, 2013 beginning with prayer at 8:45 am at the funeral home and at 9:30 am at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, S. Main Street, Herkimer where her Funeral Mass will celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, Pastor.
