Obituary of Anne Bokowski

HERKIMER: Anne A. Bokowski, 81, a lifetime Van Hornesville resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Mohawk Valley Health Center with the love and support of her family. Born in Yonkers, NY on September 20, 1931, Anne was the daughter of the late Paul and Anne (Duga) Kucerak. Raised and educated locally, she graduated as Salutatorian from Van Hornesville High School. In July of 1951 she was united in marriage to Peter Bokowski with whom she shared a wonderful and loving relationship filled with great affection and admiration for over 40 years until his passing in 1995. Anne was last employed at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown in the housekeeping department and prior to that worked at Williams Furniture. She also assisted her husband in running the family dairy farm in Van Hornesville. Anne was a selfless, loving, caring woman who was always concerned about the needs of those she loved. She was a loving wife, who took care of her husband; a dear mother and a proud grandmother. At home she enjoyed cooking, playing cards, gardening and had a love for cats. A very quiet and happy person, she will be missed by all. Anne is survived by a son, Peter Bokowski and wife Susan of Hopewell Junction, her daughters, Bonnie Harrad and husband Jim of Van Hornesville, Kathleen Bellotti and husband Louis, Darlene Lanzatella , Karen Belgrader and husband Dan all of Liverpool; her beloved grandchildren, Tammy Sorensen and husband Ken, Kimberly Steenburg and husband Jon, Amy Hawkes and husband Steve, Steven Bokowski, Mark Bokowski, Victoria Bokowski, Melissa Bokowski, Kaitlin Lanzatella, Peter Belgrader and Courtney Belgrader; her cherished great grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Jon Dylan, Dylan, Laken and Anna; her brothers, Paul Kucerak of Ilion, John Kucerak and wife Janet of Richfield Springs, Daniel Kucerak and wife Dawn of Michigan and her sisters, Elizabeth and Olga Kucerak both of Virginia. She also is survived by her in- laws, Gloria Jones, Geri Bokowski, Marilyn Ackler, Beverly Kucerak, George and Mary Jane Bokowski; a special friend, Florence Moore and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Milan and Steve Kucerak and her sisters, Katie and Elaine Kucerak. In lieu of floral offerings those wishing to express an act of kindness in the form of a memorial contribution may consider the Herkimer County Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 4th floor staff at Mohawk Valley Health Care for the kindness, care and compassion shown to Anne during her stay there. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350 (315)866-1011. A graveside funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Van Hornesville Cemetery, Van Hornesville. The family is being served by Harry J. Enea and Kevin E. Enea.
