Mrs. Edna Cora (McGowan) Rockwell, age 93, a longtime resident of Stratford, NY, wife of the late Everett Rockwell, passed away surrounded by her abundant loving family on Monday morning, September 9, 2013 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. She was born in Stratford, on November 19, 1919 the daughter of James and Maude (Daley) McGowan and was a graduate of Stratford school class of 1936 with a regents diploma. Her marriage to Everett Rockwell took place on November 9th, 1939 in the Methodist Parsonage in Salisbury Center. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Merrill Brown. Mr. Rockwell predeceased her on February 12, 1981. Mrs. Rockwell had been employed by the former Leta Shoe Company and the Daniel Green Company both of Dolgeville. She retired from The Van Allen Nursing Home as an aide, several years ago. She was a member of the Stratford Methodist Church, the Stratford & Oppenheim Senior Citizens, and the Stratford Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening for flowers and vegetables and especially enjoyed camping with her family. Surviving are her sons and their wives Brian & Priscilla Rockwell of Stratford, Everett Jr. & Debra Rockwell of Stratford, Her daughters and their husbands Dawn & Earl Youker of Stratford, Norma & Charles Turner of Oklahoma and Shirley & Donald Vedder of Stratford, 23 Grandchildren, several great grandchildren along with several great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday September 13th, 2013 at 1PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Lynn Lockwood, Pastor of the Stratford Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Round Top Cemetery, Stratford, New York. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11AM until the time of the service at 1PM.
