Obituary of Carol L. Smith

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Carol L. Smith, age 59, passed away on Friday morning, October 4, 2013 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY. For many years, Carol had valiantly fought Multiple Sclerosis and her family embraced her courage. She received wonderful care and resided at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. Her healthcare providers were excellent. She was born on December 8, 1953 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Ralph and Susan (Null) Smith. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and had lived in Dolgeville at one time. In her younger years, Carol truly lived life to the fullest and truly had a great time. She had worked various places locally until her illness, most notably Palatine Dye. She was of the Baptist faith. Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by an Infant son Jeremy. She is survived by her beloved family, including children: Michael Mehaffy of Fort Plain, Shelly Flanders and her boyfriend Jeff Slabe of Little Falls, Christine Clark and her husband Neil of St. Johnsville; grandchildren: Michael Mehaffy, Jr., Breanna Battisti, Kaitlyn Battisti, Shamrin Flanders, Destiny Flanders, Leann Clark, Brittney Clark and Connor Clark; her sister: Joanne Hogan and her husband Gary of St. Johnsville; brothers: Ralph Smith of Herkimer, Tim Smith and his wife Debbie of St. Johnsville; Wayne Smith of Palatine, Jeff Smith of Little Falls, and James Smith of St. Johnsville; along with aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, St. Johnsville with Reverend David Johnson officiating. Procession will follow to Ephratah Rural Cemetery, where interment will take place in the family plot alongside her parents. The family will have a calling hour for relatives and friends one hour prior to the service from 2 until 3 PM Friday afternoon. Kevin E.
