MOHAWK - Miss Stephanie Anne Guiney was surrounded with love and compassion on the evening of her passing, Thursday, October 10, 2013. Her 8 year battle with cancer concluded in the peaceful setting of her home under the concern of Hospice. Her father John was at her side along with her dearest friends, including Randy Dingman and Dorothy Roskowski. The family is so grateful to all who have assisted them, including St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Room and special care unit. The love, compassion, and generosity of the Herkimer Central High School have been overwhelming toward Steph and her father over the last years. They have been truly phenomenal. Steph was born on October 21, 1960 in London, England, a daughter of John F. Guiney and the late Anna E. McManus. She attended catholic school in Montclair, New Jersey and went on to attend Seton Hall University. She derived an amazing amount of peace and pleasure working with her dad at the Guiney Family Dairy Farm. Steph was "hands on" at the farm and worked diligently to make the farm the success that it was. Along with the farm, she loved her dear horse "Zipper" along with her dogs Kay and Collins. She received pastoral support from Father Mark Cunningham and Sr. Mary Jo Tallman. Her faith community was that of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Stephanie is survived by her beloved father John and her step mother Agnes; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends, both in the United States and Ireland. She was predeceased by her mother Anna who is buried in Ireland. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (Town of Frankfort) on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Stephanie's funeral will begin with prayer at the chapel of the funeral home at 12:30 PM on Thursday, October 17th. We will then process to Blessed Sacrament Church, East Main Street, Mohawk, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM by Father Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister. Full burial interment will follow in the Mohawk Cemetery Annex, Vickerman Hill, where a grave has been selected near her close and dear friend Jimmy. Her family would also like to recognize Dr. Atul Butala, Dr. Oleg Dulken, and Hospice and Palliative care for the wonderful treatment extended.
