Obituary of Ada A. Widanka

LITTLE FALLS: Ada A. Widanka, 96, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse with the love and support of her family. Born in Little Falls, NY on June 10, 1917, Ada was the daughter of the late Benedict and Sofia (Oleszek) Zawtocki. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. On February 6, 1942 she was united in marriage to Bogus Widanka at Sacred Heart Church in Little Falls, NY; with whom she shared a loving and committed relationship until his passing on August 9, 1967. Ada worked from 1949 to 1963 running the Kozy Korner Restaurant along with her late husband and in-laws. She then went on to work at Salada Foods as a tea packer, retiring after 17 years. Ada loved working outdoors and gardening. She was known and admired for her special talents of cooking and making homemade pigs in a blanket and pierogies were her specialties. Ada was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Elaine Tipton and husband Charles of Liverpool, Carol Widanka of Little Falls; her cherished grandchildren, Tammy Huber and husband Phil, Kelly Bragan and husband Tim, Melissa Tipton, Nicole O'Connor and husband Austin, Joseph Bonanni; her great grandchildren, Cameron, Greta, Tim, Ryan, Mackenzie, Katrina, Abigail and Kylie; a brother, Chester Zawtocki and wife Deborah of Mesa, AZ; a son-in-law, Larry Bonanni; her sister-in-law, Oluta Donovan of Liverpool and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Bonanni and her brothers, Stanley and Edward Zawtocki. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls (315) 823-2424, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Her funeral service will commence immediately following calling hours with prayer beginning at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home and at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, corner of John /E. Main Sts. Little Falls, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy may be made to Holy Family Parish, Little Falls; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Ada's family has entrusted all funeral arrangements to Harry and Kevin Enea. T
