FRANKFORT: Frank C. LaPuma, 73, a lifelong Frankfort resident, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his family at his side. Born in Ilion, NY on January 14, 1940, Frank was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Maneen) LaPuma. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Class of 1958. He furthered his studies by attending Albany College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1962 with a degree as a Licensed Pharmacist. On June 15, 1963 Frank married the former Mary T. Annotto at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer, sharing 50 years, a marriage blessed with an abiding love and devotion to one another and to their family. A successful retail pharmacist, Frank owned and operated LaPuma's Pharmacy in Frankfort for 34 years. He also worked at one time at Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion and more recently at Rite Aid Pharmacy, retiring in 2008. For over 50 years as a retail pharmacist, he enjoyed interacting with his customers and held an appreciation for the business aspects of his profession. Frank was knowledgeable, kind and patient -attributes that allowed everyone who knew him to love and respect him. His special accomplishments in life were raising his family of whom he was so proud and his day was complete if he could make others laugh, by telling a joke. Frank was always there to lend a helping hand. Proud of his Italian heritage, he loved to cook and share his dishes with others. During his leisure time he loved to fish, garden, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. A confidant and good friend to many, he will be missed by all. Frank served as a past member of the Knights of Columbus Council #518, Ilion as a 4th Degree Knight, a member of the Mohawk Valley Pharmaceutical Association, past president of the Frankfort Library Board, a former member of the St. Francis Society, treasurer of the Boy Scouts, a member of the Frankfort Kiwanis Club, 1982 Kiwanian of the Year, a member of the little "Boys Club" and he enjoyed the monthly "1958 Lunch Bunch". He was also a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his sons, LtCol (ret) Peter LaPuma, PhD and wife Cheryl of Ashburn, VA, Col Alfonso LaPuma and wife Shannon of Hanscom Air Force Base, MA; his daughter, Mary Angela Geloso and husband David of Ilion; his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Theresa, Annabella and Anthony LaPuma and Dominick, Vincenzo and Angelina Geloso. Frank is also survived by a brother, Tom LaPuma and wife Kay of Frankfort; in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; and special friends and neighbors, Mayme and Alan Kennell. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation in Frank's memory to the Frankfort Ambulance Fund, the St. Francis Regional School in Herkimer, the Frankfort Library or the Frankfort Kiwanis Club; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY, (315)894-8000. Frank's funeral service will commence on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street, Frankfort where his Funeral Mass will be offered by the Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will then follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort where he will be laid to rest. Members of the Frankfort Kiwanis Club are asked to gather at the funeral home on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. The family is being cared for by Harry and Kevin Enea .
